Helsby Angling Club is one of the oldest sections of Helsby Community Sports Club, having operated two lakes since the later 1940s which were stocked with a good supply of Carp, Chub, Bream, Rudd, Roach, Perch and Eels. The well-established lakes had 36 pegs shared between them and the club was open to anyone, regardless of age, sex or physical ability.
Sadly, the club’s lakes have had to give way as part of the Mere’s Edge redevelopment, however, plans to establish new waters within the local area are progressing. The intention is to provide waters with full disabled access, allowing for coaching and parent and children to fish side by side and for Helsby Angling Club to very much continue its long-standing connection with Helsby
